Meet Dr. Richardson
A. Cullen Richardson III, MD, FACS is a board-certified general surgeon and a 5th generation physician in Georgia, where his family has lived for over 200 years. He was born in Macon and raised in Atlanta with deep family roots in south Georgia.
He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina and Pacific Lutheran University. He is an AOA honor graduate of the Medical College of Georgia. He completed 5 years of Residency training at Southwestern Medical School at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas. He has been a practicing general surgeon in Albany for 34 years.
He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Georgia chapter of the ACS, the Georgia Surgical Society, Parkland Surgical Society, Dougherty County Medical Society, and the Medical Association of Georgia.
After 34 years of active practice, he has stopped major surgery and hospital work. This has allowed him to spend more time evaluating people's problems that might need either medical treatment or surgery. There are many issues that require medical treatment for which surgeons are experts at treating. He is offering an improved hemorrhoid treatment in the office that has minimal discomfort. He will continue to do varicose vein surgery in the office as well as various skin bumps, lumps and cancers.
He has been married for 41 years, with 3 grown children and 2 grandchildren. He is an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. When not at work, he can be found digging holes in his garden .
